Pickleball Instruction at the Highlands
Want to learn how to play pickleball? Do you already play pickleball and want to improve your skills? The Highlands Pickleball Association offers free lessons to help you learn and/or improve your game.
If you are just starting to learn the game of pickleball our level 1 instruction is the perfect place to begin. Coach Dave (Epperson) volunteers his time to work with people who are just learning the game of pickleball. From basics like court position and keeping score to serving, returning serve, and generally how to play the game - Coach Dave works with people who are starting out to get you playing pickleball. The Level 1 instruction clinic is comprised of four 90 minute classes. To sign up for a clinic email Coach Dave at
firstname.lastname@example.org and he will let you know when the next Level 1 clinic is available.
Once you have mastered the basics of pickleball in the Level 1 clinic you can take the Level 2 four session clinic. In Level 2 you will learn about dinking and paddle control, third shot drops and playing through the transition zone. Additional skills such as serving, returning, and volley/blocking skills are covered during the four sessions. Level 2 clinics are taught by HPA member volunteers.
To register for the Level 2 clinic you must first successfully complete the Level 1 clinic. Email Jim Widdows at JimW@highlandspickleball.com to find out when the next clinic is available. [Please note that if you have not taken the Level 1 clinic but have played some pickleball you can contact Coach Dave at email@example.com and he will be happy to work with you to determine which level of instruction is appropriate for you.]
If you’ve completed the Level 1 and 2 instruction and want to take your pickleball game to the next level .... how about Level 3! Level 3 is a four session clinic that covers advanced pickleball concepts such as directional and aggressive dinking, game strategy, third shot drops and drives, defending the kitchen line, transition zone strategy and skills, and more. This clinic is taught by Jim Widdows with assistance from HPA volunteers.

COACHING FOR YOUR PLAYING GROUP
In addition to the Level 1, 2, and 3 clinics HPA volunteers are available to provide coaching for your playing group. Here’s how it works. Your group reserves a court time on CourtReserve, or perhaps you have a set group play time. Talk with your group about what you’d like coaching/instruction on - perhaps it’s third shot drops, how to block hard driving shots, strategy, etc.. Then contact Jim Widdows at JimW@highlandspickleball.com and request a volunteer coach. We’ll do our best to match a coach and your request. It’s a great way to get some specific coaching for your playing group.
